Words of Introduction

So, upon reading a friends blog, I was inspired to create my own.  What a neat idea, right?  Rather than burden my friends' tired ears with the weight of my innermost thoughts and ideas, why not post it on an online journal for anyone who cares to read?  This way my ramblings are evacuated from my mind and absorbed only by willing subjects.  Let's be honest, there isn't much that excites me than when I'm facebook stalking an individual and I see a link to their blog.  (Yes, I facebook stalk.  So do you or you probably wouldn't have found this blog.)  So without further ado, why don't we start with 5 things that make me the individual that I am.

1.  I'm from smalltown Montana: I actually really love that I'm from Frenchtown.  It's such a warm little community with roots, strength, and wonderful people.  My parent's moved us out there shortly after my 5th birthday, so I graduated with a lot of the same kids that were in my kindergarten class.  It's just so fun to look at my 1st grade class picture and then call up a friend from the very photo and make a lunch date.  I realize now that some of my friends from Frenchtown are people that I would never have picked out of a crowd anywhere else, however getting to know and appreciate those people has been a priceless experience that I continue to partake in everytime I come in contact with a fellow Frenchtownian.  Yes, I have a ridiculous amount of pride in that little town.

2.  I'm a Mormon:  I come from a family with deep roots in the Mormon Church which is another thing I would change for the world.  I've recently come to understand the value that has come from the teachings of the Church, and how it has helped to sculpt me into the person I am today.  I am by no means a finished work of art, however, after taking a brief (for lack of better word) "hiatus" from the church, I've found myself back at my roots.  I don't know why I felt it would take removing my religion from my life to find myself, but I did.  And in the end after 2 years of intense deliberation, I found myself right back where I started.

3.  I'm a Hairstylist:  I've found my occupation to be one of the most hilarious jobs in the world.  I thoroughly enjoy being able to talk to 20 + people a day, while (hopefully) helping them feel a little better about myself.  One of my clients told me I was lucky to spend my day making people pretty, and he was so right!  I also get to spend a very intimate 15 minutes with complete strangers.  I mean, how many times do you run your hands through a persons hair shortly after shaking their hand and saying "Hello, my name is...."?  Probably not very often.  I do it all day.

4.  I love adventure:  Whether it's, hiking in the mountains, flying to a Hawaiian island, biking a stateline, a dip in the ocean, or another trip to Vegas, you can count me in.  I've learned that when life gets you down, you create an adventure to remember.  Not that I would say I'm abnormally adventurous, but I'm not going to shy away from a good opportunity.  You only live once and there is no time like the present.  I live in one of the most magnificent states in the country (at least in my opinion) so I feel it my civil duty to take full advantage of that.  Even if that means midnight trips to the natural hotsprings.  A girls gotta LIVE!

5.  I love people:   I suppose you would have to in my profession, but it goes beyond that.  My mother taught me how to study a person and figure out how they tick.  I'll do it from a distance and I'll do it up close and personal.  Either way, I'm gonna do it :)  I feel like I learn best from others, so why deprive myself of knowledge?  However, as much as I love people, every once in a while, I have to go into hermit mode and teach myself how to appreciate them again....

6.  I adore my family:  Born into one of the best families on Earth, I am not ashamed to proclaim myself as a Murdock.  I wouldn't trade one member of my family, as they have all been essential to my development and continue to edify me each day.  My parents obviously did a marvelous job raising me (yes that's a little sarcasm), and my siblings continue to be people I can learn from, lean on, and laugh with.  They are the best.  Also there is my extended family.  My Dad's side is all really close and we all live within 3 hours of eachother, so it's a little smothering, but in the best way possible.  My Mom's side is a little more distant, but I love getting the opportunity to get to know them better where possible.  All in all I love all my cousins and aunts and uncles.  They are all so different and good for me in such different ways.

So I added an extra, but I just felt I had to :)  Happy Day!
